What is crane rail?
A crane rail is the perfect accessory for any overhead crane. Made of steel, they can be customized in size and length to project needs.
Various types of crane rails can be provided by Kraan & Baan Techniek, including block rail, high crane rail, low crane rail, and vignola rails, depending on conditions and requirements.
What are rail profiles exactly?
A rail profile refers to the type of rails. Choosing the right type of rails is crucial for the lifespan and safety of the crane rail. Different rail profiles are suitable for various applications. This depends on factors like load intensity, weight capacity, and crane rail speed. It’s also known as a crane rail profile.
Naturally, a heavier crane rail will require a stronger rail profile. There are several rail profile options. The most well-known and commonly used profiles for crane rails are vignola rails, block rails, and A-rails. Additionally, rail profiles used for tracks such as uic 54, uic 60, or np 46 rails are also frequently used.
They are designed to handle heavy loads. They come in various shapes. We’ll discuss the general rail profiles below.
Steel rail profile
A steel rail profile is durable, strong, and applicable to various structures. It has a high load-bearing capacity, making it ideal for connections. Characteristic of a crane rail on a steel beam is the rail that’s typically attached to profile steel, with adjustable clamps and potentially elastic base material.
In many cases, weldable clamp plates are used for constructions like this. These clamp plates are usually applied to the construction beforehand.
Aluminium rail profiles
Aluminium rail profiles can be used for constructing overhead conveyors and light crane installations. Advantages of an aluminium rail system include optimal flexibility. The weight capacity is usually around 3000 kilograms.
Track rail profile
These are rail profiles specially designed for tracks. They’re also known as track profiles. They come in various lengths and steel grades. For example, vignola rails are a type of rail specifically suitable for tracks. Watch the video below for an example.
Technical information rail profiles
The rail profiles below are specifically designed to bear heavy loads through the rail into the foundation. Available in various lengths and steel grades.
The permissible wheel load from the tables below is based on the rail’s steel grade, wheel diameter, applied rail systems, and the normal operational factor as determined by DIN 15070. By perfecting these factors, the maximum wheel load can be increased by about 35 percent.
